Capturing Adventure: Charlie Bulla's First Ascent Experience

As the new academic year approaches, Western Carolina University's First Ascent program offers incoming freshmen an unforgettable introduction to college life through an immersive outdoor adventure. This multi-day backpacking and camping trip allows students to raft, rock climb, and learn about experiencing the outdoors in a fun and safe way. This year, our dedicated photographer, Charlie Bulla, joined the adventure to document the journey and tell the story of these new Catamounts.

Charlie, known for his passion and commitment to capturing the essence of WCU, lugged his gear through the mountains for days to ensure every moment was beautifully documented. From the thrill of rafting down wild rivers to the challenge of rock climbing and the camaraderie built around the campfire, Charlie's photographs bring the First Ascent experience to life. His work not only highlights the excitement and beauty of the outdoors but also showcases the resilience and spirit of our incoming students as they embark on their college journey.

Through Charlie's lens, the First Ascent program is more than just an adventure; it's a rite of passage that fosters growth, friendship, and a deep connection to nature. His dedication to capturing these moments ensures that the memories of this incredible experience will be cherished for years to come.
